FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH KNOWLEDGE ABOUT SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES IN STUDENTS AT A PUBLIC EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION, 2021

Objective: To determine the factors associated with knowledge about sexually transmitted diseases in students of a public educational institution, 2021. Materials and methods: The current research work had a quantitative approach and its methodological design was correlational and transversal. The sample consisted of 165 students in the 5th grade of secondary education. The data collection technique was the survey and the instruments were the scale of knowledge about HIV/AIDS. Results: Regarding knowledge about HIV/AIDS, the medium level prevailed with 84.2% (n=139), followed by the high level with 14.5% (n=24) and the low level with 1.2% (n=139). =2). According to its dimensions, in general knowledge, the medium level prevailed with 87.3% (n=144), followed by the high level with 10.9% (n=18) and the low level with 1.8% (n= 3), in knowledge about transmission, the medium level prevailed with 53.3% (n=88), followed by the low level 27.9% (n=46) and the high level with 18.8% (n=31), in prevention knowledge, the medium level prevailed with 70.3% (n=116), followed by the high level with 27.9% (n=46) and low level with 1.8% (n=3), in knowledge Regarding condoms, the high level prevailed with 62.4% (n=103), followed by the medium level with 27.9% (n=46) and low level with 9.7% (n=16). Conclusions: There is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge about sexually transmitted diseases and gender (p>0.05).
