RISK OF DEVELOPING TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS IN TAXI DRIVERS OF A COMPANY IN EAST LIMA, 2021

Objective: To determine the risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus in taxi drivers of a company in Lima Este, 2021. Materials and methods: The approach was quantitative, non-experimental and cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 101 taxi drivers from a private company located in East Lima, the instrument used was the FINDRSK test. Results: 86.1% (N=87) were male, 70.3% (N=71) had worked for more than 3 years in the company. 65.3% (N=66) were between 45 and 54 years old. 60.4% (N=61) usually do at least 30 minutes of physical activity. 97% (N=98) do not take medication for high blood pressure. 73.3% (N=74) do not have relatives with diabetes. 58.4% (N=59) have low risk, 31.7% (N=32) have slightly high risk, 5.9% (N=4) have moderate risk and only 4% (N= 4) has high risk. Conclusions: The risk of developing type II diabetes in taxi drivers of a private company in East Lima was mostly low.
