Risk and family dynamics in families with children under 5 years of age in a vulnerable area of ​​Comas.

Abstract

Objectives: To determine the risk and family dynamics in families with children under 5 years of age in a vulnerable area of ​​Comas. Materials and methods: This study had a quantitative approach, with a descriptive-cross-sectional methodological design. The population consisted of 112 families. The Total Family Risk instruments (RFT 5:33) were used, made up of 33 items and 5 dimensions, and the family APGAR represented by 5 elements. Results: Regarding family risk, threatened families predominated with 58% (n = 65). Regarding the dimensions, in psychoactive conditions threatened families predominated in 100% (n = 112), in services and health practices threatened families in 83% (n = 93), in housing and neighborhood conditions threatened families in a 75% (n = 84), in socioeconomic situation families threatened by 89.3% (n = 100), in management of minor families threatened by 72.3% (n = 81). In relation to family functionality, moderate family dysfunction predominated in 50.9% (n = 57). In its dimensions, in adaptation, severe family dysfunction prevailed in 58.9% (n = 66), in participation, severe family dysfunction in 35.7% (n = 40), in gain, severe family dysfunction in 54.5% (n = 61), in mild affect with 64.3% (n = 72), in resources good family function and moderate family dysfunction with 36.6%. In both variables there was a good correlation. Conclusions: Regarding family risk, threatened families predominated and, in all dimensions, threatened families had a greater prevalence. In relation to family functionality, moderate predominated and in the dimensions, severe family dysfunction was more frequent.
